Can you do an overall breakdown of total miles spend for this trip?

    1. Ricky YVR

Looks like it’s 160,000 Aeroplan miles for the Mini-RTW with open-jaw, 95,000 miles for the Singapore Suites, and 15,000 miles for the PER-AKL in economy. So 270,000 miles in total.

Wow this is amazing. New goal set!

Hey Ricky, do you do this full time or do you still work on the side? How do you make enough??

    1. Ricky YVR

It’s my full-time gig since the middle of last year. An exciting job, that’s for sure.

The short answer is that I seek to provide enough value to my growing number of readers and earn a decent living from the ad impressions, credit card referrals, and Points Consulting.

Now that I think of it, maybe I’ll expand upon the behind-the-scenes of Prince of Travel in a future blog post.

That’d be neat – a day in life of Ricky. Cheers!

If I remember correctly, you just came back from an RTW tour… then you will departure again? I am really curious how many RTW trips will you achieve in 2019, Ricky? Once per month?

    1. Ricky YVR

I wish! After this one, I’ll probably be all Mini-RTW’ed out and ready to rest at home for a while.

    WOW
Very nice trip I especially like the island hopper and will want to duplicate it in the future, but I guess before June 2020. How many days is your whole trip and how many days/hours will you be in the air?

    1. Ricky YVR

It’s a three week trip, with probably at least 72 hours of flying time.

Did Aeroplan give you an itemized breakdown of taxes & fees?
I booked a mini-RTW a week ago, and all I got were a bunch of codes like, "X/YMQ CA BJS R0.00CA X/SEL TG X/TPE ZH X/SZX ZH". I managed to find IATA’s fee regulations in an attempt to figure out the fees for myself, but it’s 1500 pages!
    My itinerary is:
    YHZ-YOW-YUL-PEK(stop)-GMP/ICN-TPE-SZX-KUL
    KUL-SIN-BKK-CAI-ATH-IST-OTP(stop)-WAW-CPH-BOS-YHZ
90K AP per ticket plus $361.51 taxes & fees.

    1. Ricky YVR

Yeah, those codes are pretty much all you get. My ~$440 in taxes and fees were in large part due to airport taxes and fees of the various countries. Ghana in particular has a hefty $150 departure fee.

Wow this is amazing use of the mini rtw… I wish i could use my points for a trip like this. We are a family of 4 so it would take a lot of points. So do yoy think the mini rtw redemption will go away in 2020?

    1. Ricky YVR

There’s a chance, we simply don’t know. Because of that, it’s probably worth shooting for a big Mini-RTW redemption before then, in case it does go away.

Hey Ricky – are you sure you’ll be able to use the Private Dining Room in SIN? I am arriving there myself in Feb on SQ F from CGK, and departing on a QR J – after digging around, I am under the impression that you have to be flying SQ F outbound. Inbound SQ F + Outbound non SQ F will only get access to the First Class lounge – not the Private Dining Room.

Let me know if you understanding is to the contrary!

    1. Ricky YVR

Mohammed – writing to you from The Private Room. Inbound SQ F does indeed have access. Enjoy!

    2. Ricky YVR

Looking at the FlyerTalk thread, it seems that access to the SQ Private Room as an arrivals lounge is an unpublished benefit. I expect it’ll work out, although if it doesn’t, the First Class Lounge will be mighty impressive as well I’m sure. I’ll let you know!

      1. mkhan056

That would be awesome if that’s the case – do let me know! G’luck
