What we loved: Miraval Arizona offers an all-inclusive experience like no other, featuring a diverse range of activities and classes tailored to support your personal path to wellness. Activity leaders are highly knowledgeable in their fields and a pleasure to engage with. To make your stay even more seamless, a complimentary shuttle service is provided to and from Tucson International Airport.
What we didn’t love: With cash rates exceeding $2,000 USD per night for two guests, it’s reasonable to expect an all-round luxury experience. Standard rooms, however, follow a minimalist design, and while the food was excellent, the service didn’t always meet five-star standards. Spa treatments and select activities come with an additional cost, but a generous daily credit of $175 USD per guest helps offset these fees.
How to book: This hotel participates in the World of Hyatt program and typically requires 40,000–50,000 points per night for single occupancy and 57,500–72,000 points per night for double occupancy. Cash rates range from $2,300–$3,500 USD per night plus taxes and fees. The hotel is currently undergoing a renovation until the end of October 2025, where you can find cash rates for up to 50% off.
If you’re booking a cash rate, be sure to get in touch with our travel agency, Prince Collection, for a quote. This property participates in Hyatt Privé, and we’re able to offer additional perks such as complimentary breakfast, a $100 USD resort credit, and more, all at no additional cost to you.

Miraval Arizona – About The Property
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025, Miraval Arizona opened in 1995 as the flagship location of what would become an acclaimed wellness resort collection. In 2017, Hyatt acquired the brand, integrating these unique properties into the World of Hyatt portfolio.

What sets Miraval apart from typical wellness resorts is its comprehensive approach to mindfulness and wellbeing. While spa treatments, yoga, and meditation form the foundation of the experience, the resort extends far beyond these offerings with cooking classes, adventure activities, farm activities, equine experiences, and specialized workshops and lectures focused on personal health and growth.
The property offers rooms, suites, retreats, and villas. Rooms and suites are clustered in designated Villages, while retreats and villas occupy their own distinct section of the resort.

Miraval Arizona is one of three properties in the U.S. (with locations also in Austin and the Berkshires), with a fourth location scheduled to open in Saudi Arabia later this year. Each property features signature experiences and regionally inspired programming that reflect their unique settings, but all share the core Miraval philosophy of mindful living.
Location
Nestled in the Sonoran Desert with the Catalina Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop, Miraval Arizona offers a truly immersive desert experience. The resort is located just under an hour from Tucson International Airport (TUS) and about two hours from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Most Canadian travellers can connect through various airlines to reach Tucson with just one connection.
Miraval provides complimentary shuttle service between TUS airport and the resort, eliminating transportation concerns for flying guests. For those staying in Tucson the night before their resort visit, pickup from airport-area hotels can be arranged. Alternatively, guests can take a taxi, order an Uber, or rent a car from the airport if they prefer. The resort offers complimentary parking.
The isolated desert setting is intentional, creating a sanctuary removed from everyday distractions. Most guests choose to remain on the property throughout their stay, as the extensive range of amenities and activities easily fills multiple days.
Notably, Miraval Arizona is certified as an Urban Night Sky Place by the International Dark-Sky Association, recognizing its exceptional stargazing opportunities and commitment to reducing light pollution while promoting the natural beauty of the night sky.
Booking
I visited this property with my husband and booked a three-night stay using a combination of points and an award night. For the first two nights, I redeemed 65,000 World of Hyatt points per night, transferred from my Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card, and used a gifted Miraval Extra Night Award for the third night. This award is a valuable milestone benefit earned after reaching 100 nights in the World of Hyatt program. Altogether, it was a great way to maximize value at a property that typically commands premium cash rates.
At Prince of Travel, we generally value World of Hyatt points at 2 cents/point (CAD) or 1.5 cents/point (USD), so this redemption would be a great value for your points given the usual cash rate. I put incidental charges on my Chase World of Hyatt credit card to earn 4X the points on spend at Hyatt properties.
If you do not have US credit cards, then the Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card or Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite* Card will save you the foreign transaction fee, while the American Express Platinum Card will earn 2X the points on travel spend.
Miraval Arizona participates in Hyatt Privé, a preferred partner program that you can access through our in-house travel agency, Prince Collection.
By booking through us, you’ll pay the best available rate (and sometimes even less), and have access to exclusive benefits, such as a $100 (USD) property credit, complimentary breakfast for two, one-category room upgrade, early check-in, late check-out (subject to availability), plus a welcome gift and letter.
Book luxury hotels and preferred partner programs with Prince Collection.
Booking activities for your visit can be done approximately 2 months prior to arrival. If it is your first visit at Miraval, the experience can be a bit overwhelming. It is highly recommended that first-time guests contact an Experience Counsellor to help plan their visit. Activities can fill up quickly, so planning and booking in advance is advised, particularly for spa treatments and exclusive Miraval experiences.
Miraval Arizona – Check-In Experience
To make the most of our first day at the resort, we flew in the night before and stayed at the Hyatt Place Tucson Airport. Miraval’s dedicated transportation team coordinates shuttle transfers for all guests who submit their arrival details in advance. They arranged for a shuttle to pick us up the following morning.
We were pleasantly greeted by the driver and received Miraval-branded tote bags containing a pen, a comprehensive program booklet detailing the current month’s activities, and a reusable water bottle–a thoughtful touch in line with the resort’s sustainability ethos. The shuttle journey took just under an hour.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with refreshing cold towels. Stepping into the lobby felt like entering a spa, with its warm ambiance, subtle scents, and serene atmosphere.

Before check-in, we signed acknowledgments of Miraval’s policies regarding risk, guest conduct, and digital device restrictions, which are intended to promote mindfulness and presence.

Upon completing the paperwork, we proceeded to the check-in desk. Our room wasn’t ready yet as official check-in was 3 PM. The staff graciously invited us to enjoy breakfast in their restaurant which was the perfect way to ease into the experience and gave us plenty of time to unwind and explore before our first scheduled activity at 11:30 AM.

As a Globalist member in the World of Hyatt program, I received a warm recognition of status but benefits were somewhat limited at this property:
- Upgrade: Room upgrades weren’t available during my visit due to near-capacity occupancy.
- Late check-out: Late checkout wasn’t necessary for my itinerary, but guests are permitted to stay onsite and enjoy the activities and facilities until 5 PM on the day of check-out.
- Breakfast: All meals are already included in the Miraval experience, so the Globalist breakfast benefit provided no added value.
As part of the all-inclusive experience, all of the following are included with your stay:
- Daily resort credit of $175 USD per person for spa services and other activities
- Accommodations
- All meals & non-alcoholic beverages (*additional charge for hand-crafted, premium Zero Proof cocktails)
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks
- Gratuities/tipping (Miraval is a gratuity-free resort)
- Valet & parking
- Shared shuttle transportation from and to TUS airport
- Fitness, meditation & yoga, wellness lectures, hiking activities (*additional charge for spa services, equine activities, private wellness sessions, culinary activities, and specialist workshops)

Miraval Arizona – Dreamcatcher King
The Dreamcatcher King room at Miraval Arizona features comfortable, contemporary design with warm, earthy tones and desert-inspired aesthetics.
The spacious bedroom centers around a king-size bed with an exceptionally comfortable mattress. Rich dark hardwood flooring complements a striking grey accent wall, while bedside tables provide ambient lighting. A mounted flat-screen TV sits opposite the bed, perfect for unwinding for the night.

A reading chair sits by floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the private outdoor terrace. A compact grey sectional around a sleek round table provides a small working space or place to enjoy a meal.

Wooden sliding doors lead to a bathroom with single vanity, flanked by a walk-in shower and water closet.

A closet provides extra storage, robes, and a digital safe. A small coffee station and mini-fridge with a filled water carafe are also available for guest use. Evening turn down service provided small inspiration notes and bath bombs to use
The outdoor patio offers cushioned seating for two, providing a peaceful space overlooking the resort grounds.

While the design emphasizes clean lines, natural materials, and a calming palette reflecting Miraval’s wellness philosophy, the room shows its age in some areas and lacks a memorable wow factor.
For larger groups and families, one to three bedroom retreats and villas provide a perfect luxurious accommodation option, complete with kitchens, dining areas, and large outdoor patios.
Miraval Arizona – Food and Drink
Dining at Miraval Arizona forms an integral part of the wellness experience, with several venues offering nutritious, flavourful options throughout the day:
Cactus Flower Restaurant serves as the main all-day dining venue. While no reservations are taken for breakfast and lunch, it is advised to make dinner reservations in advance either on arrival or through the SevenRooms online platform.

Both breakfast and lunch feature a buffet bar and options from an à la carte menu.
The breakfast buffet features breads, pastries, berries and fruit, yogurts, and traditional breakfast items with a slight twist, like scrambled eggs with Cojita cheese and green onions.
The lunch buffet offers a feature sandwich, a variety of salads, cheese, soups, raw and cooked vegetable options, and cookies and squares for dessert. I was a huge fan of their Coyote Moon burger.
Dinner follows a rotating five-day menu, offering a variety of appetizers, main courses, and desserts, some of which are available every day. There’s no limit to how much you can order, and the thoughtfully sized portions make it easy to sample multiple dishes. The beef dishes were particularly done well.
While the menu selection and presentation were impressive, some dishes arrived lukewarm and the dinner service was occasionally slow, which slightly detracted from an otherwise enjoyable culinary experience.
Palm Court offers a casual, café-style setting for breakfast and lunch, featuring an oatmeal bar, made-to-order smoothies and wellness drinks, baked goods (including gluten-free options), and a couple of wraps and sandwiches designed to fuel your day of activities.

The Ginger Drink was invigorating with a kick from the fresh ginger balanced by the tartness of lemon and sweetness of honey, while the banana bread was moist and full of flavour.
Coyote Moon Lounge provides a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying small, casual bites alongside a full bar. Their daily happy hour offers an opportunity to socialize with other guests in a laid-back setting while enjoying some appetizers.
Oasis Pool & Bar keeps guests refreshed throughout the day with complimentary frozen grapes, trail mix, and frozen mint lemonade (one of my favourites!). For those seeking something stronger, alcoholic beverages, cocktails, and even creative zero-proof mocktails are available for an additional fee.

A standout aspect of Miraval’s dining philosophy is flexibility, where guests can opt for takeout from buffet station or à la carte menu, and in-room dining is readily available. Most refreshingly, there’s no formal dress code; you’re equally welcome to dine in your bathrobe straight from the spa! This creates a truly relaxed atmosphere where personal comfort takes precedence.
Miraval Arizona – Other Facilities
To support its extensive lineup of workshops, lectures, and one-on-one sessions, Miraval Arizona is equipped with a wide range of wellness-focused facilities.
The standout feature of the property is its full-service Life in Balance Spa. In addition to numerous treatment rooms, the spa includes a spacious enclosed quiet lounge with serene views of the Catalina Mountains. It’s a perfect retreat for guests looking to unwind with a cup of tea.

Gender-specific steam rooms, saunas, and hot tubs further elevate the spa experience. I can personally vouch for the quality of the treatments, having received the best massage I’ve ever had here. Several other guests I spoke with shared the same sentiment.

Renovations, expected to be completed in November, will add even more treatment rooms and services to this already exceptional facility.
Just outside the spa lies the Oasis Pool area, featuring a few tranquil pools ideal for relaxation. Complimentary sunscreen, towels, a water station, and a bar are available poolside, ensuring guests stay comfortable and hydrated throughout the day.

Activity rooms host a diverse schedule of educational and mindfulness sessions, covering topics like nutrition, mental health, relationships, menopause, photography, spirituality, and more.
The Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen offers hands-on cooking classes, cocktail-making sessions, and wine tastings. I attended a plant-based cooking class that went beyond basic instruction, diving into the nutritional properties of ingredients and cooking techniques aligned with the resort’s wellness philosophy.
Yoga and fitness studios accommodate a wide variety of classes, including meditation, aerial yoga, cardio drumming, stretching, and more. For those who prefer an independent workout, a well-equipped gym is open 24/7.

For the more adventurous, the Desert Challenge Course offers ziplining, aerial elements, and other thrilling activities that can be booked. Hiking and biking trails provide a means to explore the rugged desert landscape either on your own or as part of a guided experience. Bikes are available onsite to borrow for exploring the rugged desert landscape.

The onsite Purple Sage Ranch provides unique equine experiences, using interactions with horses to facilitate mindfulness and emotional awareness.
Sports lovers will appreciate the the tennis and pickle ball courts. Equipment from the front desk on a first-come, first-served basis, adding a recreational touch to the wellness offerings.

Scattered throughout the resort are contemplative spaces, quiet areas designed for reflection and meditation while soaking in the peace and beauty of the desert surroundings.
While the resort encourages digital mindfulness, there are a few designated areas where digital devices are permitted, such as in guest rooms and the outdoor courtyard.

Conclusion
Miraval Arizona offers a unique, transformative wellness experience that differs from typical all-inclusives. While the digital device restrictions and mindfulness focus may require adjustment, they create a rare opportunity to disconnect from daily life.
This property suits travellers seeking holistic wellness rather than traditional luxury, making it ideal for solo travellers, couples, mother-daughter duos, or groups focused on restoring well-being.
For World of Hyatt members, Miraval stands out as one of the program’s most distinctive offerings. If paying cash, now is a great time to visit with significant discounts during spa facility expansion.
