I found the Bonvoy properties we stayed at in Hawaii (Oahu) to be quite stingy with regards to Platinum elite benefits last week. Way less service and attention to other properties we’ve been to; namely in Asia. Hawaii left us hungry without free breakfast, no lounge, no upgrades at various properties including the Waikiki Marriott beach hotel, Sheraton Princess hotel waikiki and Courtyard North shore. Best experience was the Ritz Waikiki but again no free brek. Glad to be back in Manila and the Sheraton Manila Bonvoy property among friends and great service again.

Yeah, my experience at the Wailea Beach Marriott in Maui was similar. I’m not sure why the cultural difference in hotels between North America vs. Asia / Middle East exists, but it’s definitely very noticeable.

As a Titanium they gave you a full breakfast not just a coffee, juice muffin? Nice. I had a friend who stayed there as just a Platinum and even though suites were available they wouldn’t give him I one. He did purchase the lounge access and thought it was nice, but a little disappointed that as an Elite it wasn’t free or discounted.

Yeah, this property seems quite stingy in elite treatment, especially compared to other JW Marriotts. I know I would’ve been very disappointed – and likely made my feelings known – if it weren’t a full breakfast.

    Is this considered low season?

Early November? I’d guess so. I didn’t see too many guests around the pool and beach; in fact, it was quite a nice and sparse crowd.
