I’ve been a 35K member the last few years and thank god I already started shifting my travel to another program earlier this year. This was just the final nail in the coffin.

I see pros and cons to the 35K changes. As a 35K member who paid for flights this year I am more annoyed not to have been directly informed by Aeroplan about changes coming to my account. I have to find this out elsewhere. My spouse who is 25K received an e-mail yesterday detailing the changes. I am still waiting for one.

Update I did receive the email not long after my comment, but nearly 27 hours after email to spouse.

What in the actual F, Air Canada? As a 35K member, I have to fly 35 segments or 35,000 miles AND spend at least $4,000 and I can’t even get into your crappy MLLs? I suppose it’s as good a time as any to move my loyalty to another airline, even if that’s WestJet. What a stupidly short sighted decision. Did you even think that you’re disincentivizing people that have aspirations to make 50K, 75K and SE? Why would I stick and work my way through 25K and 35K if there’s almost no benefit at all? Don’t kid yourself in thinking you have anything special in your offering, AC.

    Pure idiocity.
