Update: In a slightly unsavoury move, Alaska has changed the Singapore Airlines award charts and stopover rules from their original form less than a week after they were first introduced. Here’s the full update.

I saw a bunch of SQ flights around March for Oct 2020 and onwards for rewards but recently they all disappeared. I was able to snag a SQ flight via Aeroplan for Nov 2020 though.
I haven’t seen any SQ redemptions via Alaska anymore, just wondering if anyone else has seen any.
I booked YYC-SEA-LAX-SIN-KIX for 80k this morning (with a top-up using the current 40% bonus). I’m glad I was able to use up my AS miles from CC signup. In my brief experience in M&P, the availability is scarce and it’s difficult to find flights that work with my schedule. I think I will stick to travel cash-back cards.
That’s always the trade-off with points. With cash-back cards, you’ll have a very straightforward time redeeming, but you’ll also need to spend $2–3 million to earn enough cash back for the itinerary you just booked!
Umm, I calculated that I would need to spend $250k (not $2.5M) to earn back the $5000 cost of the ticket if I get 2% back
Lol
Singapore airline doesn’t fly to Shenzhen anyways, it’s silksir which flies.
Great point, I forgot that the Silkair flights still show up as Singapore Airlines on Google (under flight numbers 5XXX). I hear Singapore will soon be absorbing Silkair into its own route network though, so maybe then SZX-SIN-HKG will be a possibility!
That would be fantastic 🙂
Silk Air.
I just checked JFK-LAX-SIN-TYO also works!
And so does LAX-JFK-FRA-SIN-TYO on some days 🙂
For my tastes this is small consolation for the removal of the AA partnership.
I wonder if EWR-SIN is bookable?
If LAX-SIN and JFK-FRA-SIN are bookable then in theory EWR-SIN should be as well, although it seems Singapore has decided not to release seats on the world’s longest flight just yet.
