I’m thinking to apply for the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex. Does anyone know will I be able to use the US$300 credit towards hotel room booking? Or it can only be applied to spending at hotel such as restaurants and spa?
kinda sucks for me, I hit the status this year, and I’m not able to enjoy the perks until covid19 is over.

I actually finally qualified for Platinum on December 31, 2019. I was looking forward to enjoying the benefits for 2020. A trip to Europe in January and February was made even better with Platinum Status which was recognized in every hotel I stayed at —- upgrades, suites, breakfast etc.
Then it hit. The dreaded corona virus that screwed up all my plans for the year. A first world problem, I know. It seems selfish considering all the grief in the world. I was reconciled to spending the year in my basement but now that Marriott has extended my status for 2021, it really has given me something to look forward to when the world recovers, that is if there is any value at all left in my investments, if there are any airlines flying and if loyalty points even exist.
Seriously the important thing is we all get through this with as little damage as possible to us and ours and everyone.
