Interesting read of the strike over at Eva Air Flyertalk. Some FAs are crossing the picket line and returning to work. More flights are coming back and Eva is currently running 70% of their routes! Taipei office is now 24 hours so if you have trouble with NA lines, can call there. Hope this gets resolved soon.
Rebooked me on PAL for the 30th YYZ to TPE < MNL they kept my return on EVA for August intact. Pretty easy once I got through on the phone, I kept trying all the offices in North America until I got an agent.
Will this impact a flight I have booked SFO > BKK August 6 2019?
Unlikely, a labour dispute lasting a month or more isn’t fairly common. We also need to remember that EVA’s entire business is at a standstill with this so I’m sure they’re working to resolve this in a timely manner.
Was suppose to fly out on June 21st from YYZ to SIN on Eva Air. Phone lines were completely jammed on Thursday, couldn’t get a hold of anyone in North America. However they called me late evening, and rebooked flights with Air Canada. Asked about my preferences / priority / dates etc.
Gave me contact numbers in Asia (depending on where I will be), in case flights are cancelled on my return (July 1st).
One thing I would like to add – have taken Eva Air many times for my SE Asia trips in premium economy. Their premium economy is better (more comfier seats and more spacing) then Air Canada – and much cheaper!
Would you avoid booking TPE-SFO for next March on Eva for that reason?
I’m pretty confident things will be resolved by next March!
Hey Ricky, thanks for the report. My girlfriend has a YYZ -> TPE flight booked on the 30th in cash. When / where will she find out if it’ll be cancelled?

They’ve updated it to include cancellations for June 28th now, so you’ll want to keep an eye on it.
