100k offer on Chase Sapphire Preferred still available in branch. Went there to open a Chase account, applied with them at the same time and got approved there and then. Exactly 1 year of credit history.

You don’t necessarily need to “hold an active Sapphire card” to unlock the ability to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to high-value airline and hotel partners. Can also manage with just a Ink Business Preferred.

So booking a luxury stay at say, a Four Seasons Resort for $600 a night x 10 = 6000 UR pts; but get no status benefits- or- use Virtuoso to make the same booking using your HSBC WE MC $600 x 6 = 3600 HSBC pts, plus get a complimentary room upgrade, breakfast for 2, and $100 property credit. Hmmm

      Great remark.
In the end, it all comes up to the portfolio of cards that one has and what they want to maximize.
For Canadians, accumulating UR points is generally not very easy outside of welcome bonuses. At the same time, those points could put me in a Hyatt Cat 1 on an overnight layover or get me closer to a reasonably priced luxury Hyatt redemption. Or they could contribute towards a last-minute flight with any of the Chase transfer partners, potentially yielding great value.

Tbh, hard to find value in chase categories now that Cobalt offers 5x on CAD spend. Maybe during international travel for the no FX. So $45 annual fee for 3x dining, 2x travel, hmmmm. Also UR doesn’t have any great transfer partners. I know people like Hyatt but it is really worth while to stay there (luxury ones) if you don’t have globalist?
