Are there other first class sweet spots that are available departing from the states?
Any idea why I can’t see availability through the Alaska reward website whereas it shows me availability on Avios?
The Alaska search engine simply doesn’t show any Cathay Pacific space online. You’ll need to call Alaska to book partner flights on Cathay Pacific.
And just as I was thinking about leveraging the route next September 🙁
Damn, Im working towards 2 tickets in 1st class, i should be there in 4 months. What is the best route to go from Vancouver to sample as much of the First Class and Business experience as possible? Im not looking to split the trip up into 2 separate trips.

Would also love to check out the Hong Kong First class lounge. If i choose to fly Cape Town – Hong Kong – Vancouver, would the surcharges be less than going the opposite way?
Shouldn’t be a big difference, since Alaska doesn’t pass on the surcharges on Cathay Pacific redemptions if I recall correctly.
Thanks Ricky, I am not seeing any availability on any day in any direction in March, im using British Airways website to search for flights. Is there a better / other way to look for award availability?
March seemed pretty sparse when I looked as well. Try looking around late 2019.

Saw the headline and almost freaked out. Booked JFK->YVR for March 30 a few months back as the last leg of a cobbled together around the world trip. Hopefully they don’t cancel the route early.
March 30 may just be around the time when they drop the flight. I hope it works out for you!
