Ricky, I do not see the waiving of change fee for Alaska Mileage (partner) redemption in their official news. Did you get the information from some insider source?
A few other sources (The Points Guy, One Mile at a Time, etc.) have reported it, as have Alaska Airlines on Twitter.
This is very good news. Hopefully Aeroplan will follow this trend and eliminate change fees as well.
So now it seems that I can add a return from Sydney Australia through Los Angeles or San Francisco via Fiji on Fiji Airlines using Alaska Points to go with my JFK to Sydney via Abu Dabi on Etihad in First and still be able to change it if the trip “ goes west” as it probably will as I am booked for the end of March.
All trips seem to have a dose of pessimism built in!
