Aeroplan & Starbucks Partnership: Earn & Redeem Points on Coffee

I don’t believe this is true:”The TD-issued Aeroplan co-branded cards are the most powerful earning option for Starbucks purchases.”
On can link their cobalt card to PayPal and use PayPal for auto reload to get 5x points per $1 just like restaurants. I have my Starbucks to auto reload $75 via PayPal (funded by cobalt) to get the 2x AP points from aeroplan/Starbucks +5x points from cobalt which I usually ended up converting to AP.

Cobalt pays 5 x pts for PayPal? Can you connect Cobalt directly to Starbucks and get same?

Lunch sandwiches, protein boxes and salads are 250 stars in Canada and 200 Stars in the US.

I do not see the 400 Aeroplan points offer after I linked a newly created Starbucks account to my Aeroplan account. Does that mean I am not eligible?

    Starbucks Stars points valuation coming?

    1. Ricky YVR

      Let’s do it.

A little late, but I value Starbucks Stars at 10 cents per Star. 50 stars gets you a coffee (or tea), and you can add in as many extras as you want for free when paying with stars. So you could get a large “venti” coffee with all sorts of syrups & sauces, and say 5 espresso shots, all for 50 Stars. That’s well over $5 in value. You can make a $10 cup if you wanted, but that might be gross, depending what you put in there. You could also just get a small $2 tea. So you get out of it what you want. Sometimes I get a chai with 4 tea bags, bring it home, split it into two cups, and then add steamed milk to make two chai lattes, which you’d spend $10 for. Anyhow, that’s enough of that. 10 cents per star. Done.

Great idea for Aeroplan to partner with Starbucks, always innovating! Although this seems more targeted towards women spenders as most men don’t consume coffee on a regular. I am 37 and haven’t touched coffee in my life as I know most guys are the same.

According to the study from Food and Nutrition Sciences, more than 50% of men consume coffee compared to around 32% of women. If we take a look at daily consumption, men drink around 2.4 cups of coffee a day on average, which is a half a cup more than women.
Starbucks customers are roughly 50% male, 35% female, and the rest being other or unknown.

    2. Ricky YVR

I’m fairly certain men consume more coffee than women on average.

Good info, I am now linking my Starbucks account to my Aeroplan Account. Thanks for your info.

Personally, when it comes to coffee, I just load up on $10 GC’s from my favourite local place during Amex Shop Small promos. Half price coffee all day everyday!

    And, Rudy, get lost.

    1. Ricky YVR

That’s a dilemma I’m facing too. I’m still sitting on hundreds of dollars in free/BOGO coffee between Second Cup, Starbucks Canada, and Starbucks US between the Canadian and US Shop Small events and the recent Amex US credits. It’ll be a while until I’m able to earn Aeroplan points on Starbucks loads, and I’m hoping the offers will be more meaningful by that time.

Would this be an easy way to avoid expiry of miles after COVID? Not a bad way to avoid expiry of miles as compared to other airlines.

    1. Ricky YVR

Yep, it’s an effortless way to keep points from expiring.

Good grief Rudy. I don’t see any pretentiousness in this article. This is clearly not a site for you to visit in the future as you’ll likely pick apart everything. Besides, based on your spelling errors, I sense Starbucks isn’t you coffee go-to stop anyway.

  10. Rudy Gobert

Throughout the article, you mentioned servers times that it’s a Premiun partnership between Aeroplan and Starbucks, what makes you think Starbucks is Premiun? It’s just a coffee bread. Drinking Starbucks doesn’t make you belong to the upper echelon. Just stick to the basics and get educated. Enough said.

    1. Mike

Rudy, please go easy. This is just an update article. Also, what is coffee bread?

      1. Rich

TL/DR: we can now earn Aeroplan points by buying Starbucks coffee bread? Sounds delicious, I’m so in.
