Hey Ricky, hope you and Jessica had a fantastic time in Portland! Any restos you recommend … and did you check out House Spirits Distillery via Priority Pass at the airport?
We followed some of Colin’s recommendations – loved the wings at Pok Pok and the food truck corner around the Target downtown. The donuts at Blue Star was incredible as well.
Just finished up at Capers Market, the Priority Pass restaurant in Terminal D, where Air Canada flies out from, and we got a free US$112 in total to spend on food and goodies! (2 Priority Passes each with 1 passenger + 1 guest) Doesn’t get much better than that 🙂
Voodoo Donuts is pretty popular for fancy donuts… some say there are better places… but that’s probably because Voodoo has become so famous. Also, if you’re into the pub-crawl scene… they have these 12-person bikes which enable you to go from pub to pub legally… the DD steers and the pub-crawlers all do the pedalling… so it’s all kept legal.
Depending on which day you go, there’s a good market in Portland… can’t remember where it is… and there’s this epic used book store in the city called Powell’s if you’re into rare books.
We saw the lineup at Voodoo and opted to head to Blue Star instead, but it certainly looked very busy on the inside. We also saw more than one passenger departing PDX bringing boxes of Voodoo donuts with them, so it must be quite a treat!
The Portland Saturday Market and Powell’s Old Books were both very enjoyable as well. We got lost in Powell’s for quite a bit, but it was time well spent.
The Nines was one of my worst luxury hotel experiences ever! Glad you avoided it.
I’m curious what your experience was like? We thought the Marriott on the Waterfront was decent but that one of the downtown options might’ve been better, so I’d be interested to find out what you thought of The Nines for next time.
Amazing food in Portland! Grassa, Pok Pok, Screen Door, food trucks, skip Voodoo Donuts and go for Blue Star instead.
Invaluable suggestions, Colin – thanks so much. We loved the wings at Pok Pok!
But if you go to the Rip City, I suggest Moda Center.
Oh, my god! You booked again…
