    1. how did you 120k aeroplan pts out of marriott booking? Is marriott and aeroplan related somehow?
    2. Is aeroplan search engine giving you all of your flight booking options or you search for star alliance flights somewhere else amd call agent to book?
    Thanks

      Hi Daniel,

Yes, the Marriott Travel Packages allow you to get 120,000 airline miles PLUS a 7-night hotel stay, starting at 270,000 Marriott Rewards points. I’ve written about them extensively in the past.

I usually look for each segment one-by-one using Aeroplan, and then call in to book.

      Cheers
      Ricky

So excited to hear about the trip. I have one booked similar for my husband and I in November. It is our first total points trip! We are doing Peru (Cusco) 5 nights, Chile (Santiago) 5 nights, Argentina (Buenos Aires) 7 nights and then 2 nights in Uruguay. Starting in Calgary. I used Alaska Miles, some Avios and a Fifth freedom KLM flight between SCL-EZE. All hotels are SPG and Marriott. Our of pockets is similar at $660. You’ll have a wonderful time. Looking to forward to your reviews of the hotel properties and cities!!!

How do you transfer aeroplan points to another person ie. to make use of a super elite account as you mentioned.

    1. Ricky YVR

You just enter their Aeroplan # when transferring from Amex.

Curious to know what’s in it for the SE member when doing this?

        1. Ricky YVR

Typically the person asking for the favour offers a few extra Aeroplan miles as a thank-you gesture.

Curious if you ever considered SPG nights and flights, or was the value proposition just not enough for the 50K airlines miles?

    1. Ricky YVR

To be honest this completely slipped my mind, though I don’t think I would’ve found the value proposition to be worthwhile.

That looks awesome! Looking forward to reading the trip reports!

Quite the itinerary! Look forward to the post-trip reports as South America definitely on my list. As an aside, do you recommend folks that are considering Marriott 7-night certificates purchase them prior to August 1?

    1. Ricky YVR

Hey Dana, we don’t know yet what the Flight & Hotel Packages will look like come August. I suspect we’ll get more details before that, at which point we should be able to determine an optimal strategy.
