Hi Ricky,
If I booked a business class flight with Aeroplan on a particular aircraft, and then the airline decided due to their logistics issues to use a different plane – is it considered IROPS? Can I use this situation to my advantage somehow?
Thanks.
It varies. Technically, no, it’s not considered IRROPS, but if you make a case to the Aeroplan agent (for example, your new aircraft doesn’t have lie-flat seating) then they’re usually happy to accommodate you and rebook you on the aircraft you specifically wanted to book.
What about Emirates?
I haven’t done Emirates in business yet, but when I write a post about Top 10 First Class flights, I think they’ll take up a very lofty position 🙂
Even if I had flown Emirates business, I’m not sure if they’d make the cut to be honest. Emirates business is known for being relatively weak considering their global standing, and even their newest layouts do not offer direct aisle access at every seat.
I tried to go on the free Istanbul tour while on an Aeroplan booking on Turkish Airlines and the folks at the airport wouldn’t let me on the tour. They said the flight has to be booked through Turkish Airlines.
When was this? I had no problem going on the tour on an Aeroplan redemption in Feb 2019, as well as getting the free layover hotel on another Aeroplan redemption in Nov 2019.
February 2020.
I was also denied the free Istanbul tour in March 2020 on an Aeroplan redemption, arriving and departing Istanbul on Turkish Airlines. The agent at the Hotel Desk said the tour is only available to those with the Turkish ticketing code 235. Spoke to her supervisor as well. he won’t budge.
