I think you missed one key mulitplier. I have both the RBC Avion Infinate and the RBC Ion+. For gas you purchase at Petrocan you get 3 points per dollar using the Ion+ (you have to register your card), those points transfer to the RBC Infinate card’s Avion points that transfer out for as high a value as 3 Avios points, which is about a 6% return on the purchase.
Probably some other detailed strategies like this that may be used to maximize points earnings

I really think that the Ion+ should be added to the RBC section. The monthly/annual fee is negligible and you can get 3 points for every dollar for a number of categories. Not to mention that RBC partners routinely have transfer bonuses. IMO Ion+ is one of the better cards for earning and can rival the cobalt if you use the points accrued to transfer during a transfer bonus. RBC also has a superior 1:1 to Asia Miles. Its not nearly as good as the cobalt, but its much cheaper and more accepted because it’s visa.
