I’ve tried twice to get a retention bonus for my Amex Platinum and failed. The first was a flat no. The second time the agent was going with the “it’s points you want, sure, here you go, but it’ll cost ya. You’ll have to spend $4000 to get those membership points.” I declined. I was hoping for something to offset the huge fee. Any thoughts, help, suggestions? With many thanks!!
I am looking to travel to edi business with points. Of course, all I saw on the website was mixed cabins. Business class to FRA with Air Canada and Economy class with Lufthansa from FRA to EDI. I checked the FRA-EDI leg and it shows that business class seats are available. I called the Aeroplan agent and asked her to check this on her side and she agreed the seats were available….but not for the combined flights…WTF! I have successfully changed similar situations with mixed cabins in the past with agents. So I initiated the HUCA process…also with no luck. Both agents were very nice and did try to book it for me. Have things changed? Should I keep trying? Once at the airport is it possible to change the ticket to business?
Good article Ricky. HUCA trial-and-error got me to Sunday early mornings as the sweet spot for Aeroplan agents with patience and chops for complex RTWs.
When the first data points about this filtered through, however, members were still able to get some of their accounts linked over the phone, because some agents might have read the memo yet.
"some agents might -not- have read the memo yet"
Correct! Thank you.
Ricky’s out here flexing his English vocabulary on all of us again, making me feel like a simpleton
But it’s a perfectly cromulent article.
