I could not agree more with this post. I did a layover when traveling to the UK earlier this year and loved the short time we had in Iceland. We did a Northern Lights tour and were lucky enough to see them. I would like to go back and rent a car for traveling further afield. Regarding the cost of food etc yes it is really expensive – the only other place that I’ve paid higher was in Oslo!
