I purchased a ticket to take advantage of converting this offer into Aeroplan Points.
Is there an easy way to have them converted, or do I have to call them and wait on hold for hour upon hours. Also i only purchased the ticket a couple weeks ago so at what point should I cancel my ticket and request converting it.

  2. Andre

Do you think this promo comes up again in the near future with travel dates into the summer?

  3. johnny lu

did anyone get their bonus points yet?

    1. Paulk YYZ

Me too. Yesterday with the latest statement.

      1. johnny lu

still didn’t get mine. how would i go about nudging aeroplan to give me my points? link them to this blog post? because there’s no other link i can find that proves this promo actually existed…

    2. Jay*

      Yes.

  4. Churna

A note on the bonus miles calculation, when speaking to AC over the phone, the numbers they give are different. I tried different provinces as points of origin, and the highest I could get from them for a $1000 ticket was close to 52k and change.

  5. Ryan

Hi, so to clarify. I just got TD Aeroplan card today so didn’t previously receive an email regarding this offer. Can I register using the link in this article or do I need to wait to see if I get an email first in order to qualify for the offer?

  6. CanadaChina

    Hello hello Reda From Shañghai.
I’ll probably wait for Amex to come with a similar promotion hopefully around Black Friday. I wasn’t aware of the flexible Air Canada cancellation policy with 65% bonus for Aeroplan. Does this policy cover all flights as long as you cancel or request the transfer before Dec 31?

  7. Carl

Who hasn’t received the TD VI bonus from last time? It’s been 8 weeks I think but still didn’t see mine posted.

    1. Michael

Mine is 3 days shy of 8 weeks and nothing.

      1. Manny

Bonus AP points should be posted 6-8 weeks from the end of the previous offer period, Oct 1.

        1. Paulk YYZ

No points for me. But not surprised. TD takes their sweet time

  8. Timbo2

Could one book up to $1,000 on different cards and receive the multiplier bonus for each card ? OR are you limited by your AP account number to one bonus only ?

    1. Ricky YVR

All TD Aeroplan cards that you hold will be eligible for the promotion.

  9. Ron Sigal CAL

I registered my TD Aeroplan VIP premium card for this promotion, linked to my Aeroplan number. If I use the card to buy a ticket for my son traveling without me, will I be eligible for the 20 Aeroplan points per dollar promotion, or would I have to be traveling myself to qualify?

    1. Ricky YVR

You can book for other passengers and still qualify.

  10. jyang

How long did everyone’s points take to post on their aeroplan account last time?

  11. Lisa

Hi Ricky. I have a question which is indirectly related to your post. I was wondering if when you mention « If your Aeroplan account is registered under a valid foreign address », this could apply if I have an address in Niagara Falls, NY? You know. And could that same US address enable me to apply for US MBNA Alaska credit cards? Thanks.

    1. Niall Sheridan

I had the same issue yesterday – but it seems to be working ok now.

  12. dan

Hey Ricky, just discovered your website and just got my first TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite thanks to this post! If I understood correctly, if I spend 1000$ on AC flights, I will receive 15,000 points. Does the class of the ticket not count towards this promotion though? Business class normally earns 1.5x points, so would this make it 16.5x?

  13. Dallas

Do you think this will stack with Air Canada’s 100/150% bonus on flights to the US? Pondering doing a refund to points.

  14. Frank

    Hi Ricky

Would you have the link for 20x aeroplan bonus for TD visa aeroplan privilege? The link you posted is for 10x for the non privilege card. Thx

    1. Ricky YVR

It’s the same link to register no matter which TD card(s) you hold.

  15. Brad

Cancellation option has just been extended to Sept. 30th, right?

    1. Ricky YVR

      Right!

  16. Mike

Is there any way to verify your successful confirmation to register? It showed that I registered on the website, but I didn’t get an email or similar verification. Were you supposed to receive one?

    1. Ricky YVR

There’s no confirmation. If you need extra confirmation, just register again.

  17. Annabelle

Think AC gift cards work? T&Cs seem to suggest it would since any purchase “made directly with Air Canada for Air Canada products and services completed online at aircanada.com” would count

    1. Ricky YVR

AC gift cards are processed by an external vendor (Buyatab Inc.) so unfortunately they wouldn’t count. On the other hand, if you purchased a dummy flight and decided to cancel, you could choose to receive an Air Canada Travel Voucher, which functions exactly like a gift card for all intents and purposes (or you could choose the Aeroplan points with 65% bonus as mentioned in the article).

      1. Annabelle

Thanks Ricky! Almost bought the gift cards. How about flight passes? I do actually need flight passes

  18. Lisa

    Hi Ricky,
I’m ready to book a First Class flight on Etihad. If I book with My TD Privilege, will it also add to the promotion to reach a higher Status? I also have Amex Reserve. Thanks!

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes, as long as you spend $10,000 on one of the premium cards during the promo period, you’ll get the status boost.

      1. steve

Just to clarify something along this line. One must reach the 100,000 EDQ incentive BEFORE the Nov 30 $10,000 deadline to go from 25K (EDQ) to 35K ($10k promo)?

        1. Ricky YVR

          Correct.

  19. Churna

2 questions the Biz Card currently has a 2x on points promo, which is effectively a 4x on AC, does the 10x apply to the 4x or is that a separate thing? Also can multiple cards earn this 10x i currently hold VI and Biz?

    1. Ricky YVR

It would be a separate thing, so you’d earn 20x + the extra 2x from the signup bonus = 22x in total on that $1,000 in spend.

Yes, multiple cards can qualify for this promotion.

      1. Churna

        Thanks g

  20. Evan

Checking my logic here- if I booked a trip now for sometime before June 30 2022 to earn the bonuses, but later determined that it would be better for my schedule to travel in October, can I use the free itinerary change to switch the flights to October, pay the difference if any, but keep the bonuses that applied as if the flight was before the end of June?

    1. Ricky YVR

You’ll keep the 10–20x points that you earn on the TD card, because that’s just based on your purchase date, not your travel date. But for the 15% discount code, I’d imagine that pushing the travel date beyond June 2022 would fall outside of the validity period, so you’d probably pay that difference as part of the overall fare difference at the time.

  21. Amit

Could something like the refundable hotel trick work? Buy a comfort or latitude flight departing months from now, collect bonus, cancel for cash refund?

  22. Malik

Exciting promo. Thanks for the coverage Ricky.

  23. Harry

I’m confused. If I spend $1000 with my Visa Infinite, I get 15,000 points.
    OK, I understand.
But your description says “converting the value of your ticket into Aeroplan miles with 65% bonus”. Doesn’t that mean that the bonus is 65% of $1000? and not 65% of 15,000?

    1. Ricky YVR

It means a 65% bonus on top of the standard price for purchasing Aeroplan points (3 cents per point), which results in a purchase price of 1.8 cents per point. If you were to take $1,000 and purchase Aeroplan points at 1.8 cents per point, you’d get 55,550 Aeroplan points. Add in the 15,000 points you earn from the promotion, and that’s 70,550 points in total.

      1. Harry

        Thanks Ricky

  24. Kothar

I just got my 20k Aeroplan points post from the Vancouver hotel stay 3 nights deal. I checked my EDQ total and it did not seem to budge it, unless it adds when the month is done?

    1. Ricky YVR

That’s a promotional lump-sum bonus, which tends not to count towards EDQ. This one’s a credit card spend-based bonus, which should count (I’ve confirmed with AC).

  25. Paulk YYZ

I just booked three business class flights YYZ-LHR next August on points, and elected to reduce the points paid by paying a larger slice as cash, and paid with the TD Visa Inf. Priv. I figured that I’d effectively be buying AP points from AC at 1.8 cents, and a further 20000 points on the first $1000 in spend and 2 further AP points on the rest of the cash paid based on the TD promotion.

Here is the question. In the T&C, there is no mention of any date restrictions regarding when the flights are to be taken (the only mention is the booking date before Oct 1, 2021). Yet in the bold print at the top of the page, there is a mention of book by Sept 6 for travel by June 30.

My assumption is that the bold print refers only to the 15% discount on cash fares and doesn’t refer to restrictions on the flight dates for the AP bonus.

Is there any way to clarify this?

    1. Ricky YVR

The bold print refers to the 15% discount code. There’s no “travel by” date for the 10x points on $1,000 spend because the purchase simply needs to appear on your credit card by October 1.

  26. Sam

Would cancelled AC flights still qualify as points for “everyday status qualification”? Ie. Can I book a flight, cancel and convert it to points but still have the cost of the flight credited as “qualifying miles” towards Aeroplan 25k status?

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes, since it was still spent on your TD Aeroplan credit card.

  27. JustSam

Careful…on conversion of ticket value to Aeroplan points you DO pay sales tax rate of the jurisdiction where you Aeroplan account is registered. At least this is my recent experience with my account being registered to the UK.

    1. Ricky YVR

Interesting, did you get charged 20% VAT? We’ll have to await some data points from US-based Aeroplan members to see what gets charged, although I’d be surprised if anything got charged since Aeroplan points purchases through Points.com are still subject to no tax with a US billing address.

      1. JustSam

        Yeah charged 20% VAT 🙁

  28. George

Hi Ricky, would you recommend cancel my flight in Dec booked with aeroplan and re-book it to grab all the bonuses (AP and cash) with cash? The concern I have is that the pandemic is still precarious and that’s why I booked with points in the first place. But all these bonuses seem too good to be missed. I am torn here.

  29. Kevin

I have the TD Visa Infinite and received 10x (not 15x).

    1. Ricky YVR

It’s advertised as 10x in the sense that you get 10x the standard earning rate for Air Canada purchases on whichever card you hold. With the Infinite, you normally get 1.5x, so you’ll get 15x under the promotion.

      1. Kevin

Thanks! I realized my mistake & tried to delete that comment right after submitting but I don’t see an option for it. Anyway this might help other people who are yet to have their coffee.

        1. Annabelle

How quickly did your extra points post? I want to buy 3 sets of flight passes for my 3 different cards so might try 1 out first to see if I’ll get the points for it before purchasing the other 2.

  30. steve

Should we expect to see a similar offer from Amex soon? I’d rather put a purchase on the Reserve card.

    1. Ricky YVR

I’d be surprised, as I imagine they would’ve launched all three offers concurrently, similar to other all-issuer promotions we’ve seen recently or indeed last year’s 10x points on Air Canada promotion.
