Hi Everyone. I was wondering if there are any datapoints of people applying for a second card and getting the welcome bonus without cancelling the first one? (So holding 2 cards). The T&C says that the companion voucher is only for new cardholders but there is no mention of welcome bonus being limited. I applied and received the second card but still waiting for the welcome bonus to be posted (if it will).
Update – I got the upgraded welcome bonus and companion voucher on a 2nd card
How long after the first card did you apply for the 2nd card?

1) you must book your flight using the WJ cc in order to qualify for the free luggage benefit.
2) I’m not sure about this one… call WJ and inquire.

I signed up for the WJ card during the 250 pt promo, and im traveling with westjet in Jan. Can someone tell me:
1) Do I have to book the flight with the wj cc to get the free luggage promotion? Do I just flash the card upon checkin at the airport?
2) My annual fee is coming up in November so I want to cancel the card. For the same Jan trip, does the card have to be active for me to get the free check in luggage?

Great info on this card. I have this card and have lots of WJ $ saved. I am the secondary holder and want to take advantage if this offer. Do I cancel cancel and reapply? What did you mean by product switching vs cancelling in your reply to another reader? Tx!!!!
If you’re a secondary cardholder on someone else’s card at the moment, you can just go ahead and apply for your own primary card, there are no issues there.

Had one booked and if I apply for the card and got approved, could it be used? Doubt it would work but just wondering

Hi Rick. I just switched my WJ WE to Avion throught the phone YESTERDAY. You mentioned this offer will be expiring Jan 6. If I apply this card again by that date, do you see a chance that RBC will retrieve my card and give no points since it would be only 2 month after I got rid of my WS card?

AK, I’m looking to do the same product switch from WJ WE to Avion. Did you do it over the phone or online? Are you eligible for the sign up bonus and did you get a pro-rated annual fee reduction?
Over the phone and offered 15k point instead of 20k. I asked to waive the first year fee and she left the note for me to call back so the next agent will rebate the fee. Was very successful I think.

If I already have the WJ RBC card for years if i cancel it now how long would I need to reapply and do I loose my current WJ dollars accumulated? When does the offer expire?

You don’t lose the WestJet Dollars you currently have since they’re already in your WestJet account. I think you could reapply pretty soon after, although you might wish to product-switch away from the card rather than cancel it outright, since you’ve held it for so long.
Which RBC card would you recommend for a product switch away from the westjet? I already have the personal avion.
My understanding is you don’t get the spend based bonus on an rbc product switch, only the welcome bonus. Can you switch to a business card like the avion business?
I would be interested in knowing too.
