Like Rona I will simply stop shopping at Staples. Not because they stopped but because of the little warning that gave. It’s like complete disrespect for the customer.
I pull our my air miles card (actually my phone) and will collect air miles as an afterthought a places like Shell (while earning 3 MR points on my Amex Biz Card) and Metro (while earning 5 MR points on my Amex Cobalt card) and Staples (up to now and more three pointers on the Amex Biz). Every once in a while the Metro cashier says I have $10 bucks off using 95 airmiles. I say, burn baby burn. Think I have 93 AM points. Will burn them soon. Sounds like the Titanic is taking on water fast….
Unfortunately, the Air Miles program is a “dead man walking”! This used to be such a great program and it was one of, if not the oldest loyatly program in Canada. They treat their customers like rubbish! A classic example is having enough points for the item that you want, to have it suddenly become “unavailable” after saving up for months or even years! The ROI for dream miles is garbage! just over 0.005 value per mile.. even basic , no annual fee cards offer 1 cent+ return per mile/point . I cancelled my Air Miles account years ago and have never looked back!
