    Congrats on the move to Montreal, love to see a blogpost about your experience!

    I would suggest renting a car at Boston Logan Airport and driving to Providence rather than taking the train.

      Don’t think he has a license – mentioned in a previous post I believe.

        Guilty as charged.

    I just have a question regarding Aeroplan market fare flight. Will you actually be earning redeemable miles for these flights? It seemed to me that they are coded the same booking classes as revenue tickets booking classes, eg. economy, business class. Thanks.

    1. Ricky YVR

      Nope, you do not earn miles on Market Fares. Even though the fares book into the revenue fare buckets, the tickets are denoted as non-mileage earning.

    Looks like an awesome trip! And congrats on the Vice Presidential Suite upgrade, that’ll be awesome!

    One question, why are you using the US Bonvoy AMEX at 6x instead of the Canadian Bonvoy AMEX at 5x?

    For example, on $100 USD charge the US card will give you 600 points. After currency exchange from USD:CAD at about 1:1.35 plus 2.5% FX fee won’t you earn around 690 points on that $100?

    1. Ricky YVR

      Sure but is the extra 90 Bonvoy points worth the ~$3 in FX fees? I wouldn’t say so. In general I like using the Canadian Bonvoy card in Canada and the US card everywhere else for that reason.

        Fair enough. I figured it was the FX but was just curious. Thanks for the reply and enjoy the trip!

        Plus the US Bonvoy cards tend to have more “offers” for earning credits after X spent at Marriott properties, for further savings.

          @Jay

          Yeah that’s true. If you have an offer then it’s a no brainer
