When emailing ahead of time for the upgrade what did you say? Did you mentioned you would write a blog post about the hotel? Did you promise them anything in return or just ask politely? Do you have IHG status?
No mention of the blog, just said I think the overwater pavilions look amazing and I’d love to stay in one (the rooms in the main building are the only ones bookable on points). They replied saying the request was noted and it would be subject to availability.
