Just checked in yesterday for a 7 night mattress run at an Edmonton Cat 1 that has points saver nights available right now, so 24,000 points to get platinum. My wife will check in on July 5 for 6 nights for 20,000 points to do the same. This will definitely make the 12-15 (35,000 point) free night certificates (we currently have 6 between us) we will have while we are platinum much more valuable. For those of you in the Edmonton area looking to do the same, Four Points by Sheraton Edmonton South seems to have pointsaver nights available for quite a few nights

    Thanks.
I find the January 31, 2021 expiration for certs absolutely ridiculous when other programs extended it well into 2021.

Hey Ricky I spend 1/2 hour with all kinds of math combos trying to figure it out! Lol. Anyways we still get the annual birthday day 1 elite nite per year? Or has that been taken away?

    1. Ricky YVR

Seems like that’s been put on hold for now.

  5. Alec

Sorry what am I missing? 49 plus 38= 87 nites. Why do you say 77nites. Did I not read the article correctly? Thx. Al

    1. Ricky YVR

You’re missing the fact that I can be a bit of a simpleton sometimes and mess up basic mental math. My mistake there, fixed now.

You mentioned "up to 30 elite nights from holding US- and Canadian-issued Marriott Bonvoy credit cards", but am I understanding correctly that only two US Amex Marriott cards would stack up to 30, and a Canadian one wouldn’t work? Thanks!

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes – only a personal and a business US-issued card would stack up to 30. Hence, "up to" 30 elite nights.

Why is the JW Muskoka (cat6) still sitting at 50k pts/night?

    1. Ricky YVR

While it was originally reported that all hotels are going off-peak, it seems that it’s being applied to 5,500+ out of the total portfolio of 7,000+. I’d imagine the JW Muskoka is one of the 1,500+ hotels that are excluded.

        BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Definitely puts Platinum back in reach for us lowly Golds after the meeting trick nerf, exciting stuff. Cat 1 mattress run here I come!

Will the bonus Elite nights count towards Lifetime status?

    1. Ricky YVR

      I believe so!

50k certificate at the RITZ carlton in MTL could be fun.

    1. Ricky YVR

Great shout! There’s a 50k cert sitting in Jessy’s account right now, so I’d have to reach out and see if the hotel’s willing to honour my Titanium benefits instead for our staycation.

I haven’t applied for gold status yet, will I receive the extra nights if I make gold during this promotion?

    1. Ricky YVR

I don’t believe so, as it’s based on the status you earned in 2019.
