I booked Sunwing to Honduras (only direct flight) and the worst happened: after delaying by 3 hours, then by 24 hours, they eventually canceled (my fellow PoT members had warned me about this, but it was the only option we were willing to take in terms of price/schedule). They did reimburse me in full (I never even had to pay for the flights, as my Amex statement hadn’t closed yet), but we lost the $ for the AirBnB. My husband insists on using his US dollar RBC card to pay for AirBnB’s since he is paid in US dollars, but it our worst card. They won’t cover for it and now Amex won’t cover because this expense was not paid for with Platinum (the problem is that it became trip cancellation, not trip interruption). Lesson learned, cost us $1k.
Great insights into using all resources at hand to achieve a desired outcome. It is exhausting to think of every angle all the time. And Lady Luck plays a huge role so thank you for concluding that there’s always hope.
Westjet is offering 100% refunds. My source is my ticket was fully refunded as they couldn’t rebook.
